Sharing and collaboration
Share permissions: people and access rules
Canvas-wide people rules and a link's settings jointly determine access, not sign-in or possession of a URL alone.

How access rules combine
People permissions apply to the whole canvas. Mode, lifetime, budget, and resources belong to each link. People rules apply across links without merging their funds or resources.
A valid link is required. A named-account rule takes priority over Other users. People rules retain, reduce, or block link access; they cannot turn a view-only link into editing.
For links A=view-only and B=collaboration, Follow link lets a person view A and edit B. View only reduces both to reading; Block denies both.
A URL is not edit permission
People rules versus link modes
| People rule | View-only link | Shared-credit collaboration | Personal-credit collaboration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Follow link permissions | Read only. | Edit; choose owner or personal credits. | Edit; personal payment only. |
| View only | Read only. | No uploads, edits, shared materials, or generation. | No generation even with personal payment. |
| Block | No access. | No access. | No access. |
Set named-account rules
- Open People permissions from Share or the owner's participant list.
- Set Other users, then find a registered, available account by exact full username, email, or phone, not nickname or vague keywords.
- Add and verify the account, then choose Follow link, View only, or Block. Maximum 200 named rules per canvas, not per link or online-user guarantee. Do not add the owner.
- For a specified group only, block Other users and send valid links to permitted accounts.
- Adds, changes, and removals are drafts until Save people permissions succeeds. Closing unsaved or failed saving does not revoke access.
- Removing a named rule returns the person to Other users, not necessarily Block. Retain a Block rule when denial is intended.
Other users are blocked and a test account follows link permissions. Adding is still a draft until Save, applying across this canvas's links.
Actual interface · Tutorial example, not your accountWhy viewing can still require sign-in
- Editing requires identity for authorship and payment. Anonymous users cannot edit or generate.
- If Other users is blocked or any named-account block exists, sign-in is also required to prevent a blocked person becoming anonymous.
- With no block rules and effective view-only access, anonymous reading is possible, including an editing link reduced to viewing for Other users. View-only links are not always sign-in-free.
- Sign-in alone does not establish membership or editing. Link status, canvas availability, and people rules still apply; payment or membership cannot bypass them.
Three common configurations
Sign-in depends on people and access configuration, not merely the link being view-only.
| Goal | Configuration | Check |
|---|---|---|
| Public display | View-only link; allow Other users as appropriate. | Private references or process details? |
| Group collaboration only | Editing link; specified group follows link; Other users blocked. | Correct account and valid link? |
| Group editing, public viewing | Editing link; group follows link; Other users view-only. | Public visitors are effectively read-only? |
People, materials, and payment are separate
Editing does not grant material-library access. The current collaboration link must explicitly authorize resources, and the person must not be reduced to viewing.
Choosing personal credits cannot overcome read-only. Saved restrictions apply to new actions; accepted tasks retain their confirmed payer. Revocation does not reverse consumption.
Owners manage resource scope at creation or in history. Read Shared materials for dynamic changes and already-used content.
