nano banana: natural-language creation and reference editing
| Model | Tasks to try | Settings and limits here |
|---|---|---|
| nano banana 2 lite | Concept drafts, simple edits, subject exploration, and multiple references. | Ratio and minimal/high thinking; fixed currently offered resolution. No web search, seed, format, or sequential controls. |
| nano banana 2 | Product scene changes, style changes, reference combinations, and web-assisted creation. | Ratio, several resolutions, web references, and low/high thinking. It currently offers a broader ratio selection than pro; check wide/tall requirements. |
| nano banana 2.1 | Detailed images, lettering, product scene changes and multi-reference edits. Check text and areas not requested to change. | 1K/2K/4K, web references and minimal/medium/high thinking, default medium. No 512 tier or separate negative prompt, seed, format or sequence controls. |
| nano banana pro | Combined constraints for subject, layout, color, and text, with explicit priorities. | Ratio, several resolutions, web references, and low/medium/high thinking. Medium thinking and ratio options distinguish its visible controls from 2. |
Usage, cautions and actual examples
Separate what to retain from what to change: for example, keep watch-face text and metal material, changing only the background. These models have no separate Negative prompt field; express exclusions in the main instructions rather than importing another model's parameters.
These models have no candidate-count or sequence controls. For several candidates or a sequence in one submission, choose another model with those controls. Generating again with the same input is a separate creation.
For a product scene change, keep structure, materials, and markings and specify only background/lighting changes. Consider web references for real locations. Compare direction before increasing resolution; do not change model, ratio, and thinking together.
