What each object represents

ObjectPurpose
Image nodeAn uploaded image or generated result that can become another input. Uploading multiple files creates separate image nodes.
Multi-reference nodeAn ordered collection of image slots and references for later prompts.
Prompt or operation nodeThe prompt, generation settings, or image-editing operation.
ConnectionA reference or output relationship. Deletion scope can extend downstream.
NoteRich text, background, and opacity; anchored to a target or placed independently.
GroupVisual organization and movement of several objects while retaining their relationships.

Relationships retain creative sources

OperationPrompt, settings, or tool
Results/branchesCandidates or later creation
Results can branch into later steps. Deletion can also follow downstream relationships.

When to use a multi-reference node

Treat it as an ordered reference list: image 1 for the character, image 2 for composition, image 3 for colors. Order the inputs and explain their roles rather than asking the model to guess.

It also reuses an input collection across prompts. Slots can reference images or other multi-reference nodes, so three slots may contain more than three actual images. Submission limits use the expanded total.

For a single result you want to edit next, Continue creating is enough. Text-only generation needs no empty reference node.

  1. Select existing images before using the multi-reference control to bring them in, or create an empty node and select or connect images individually.
  2. Check and reorder references. 'Image 1' means the submission order, not the leftmost object on the canvas.
  3. Continue from this input, enter a prompt, and submit. The input locks to preserve the combination actually used. Create or copy an input for a different combination instead of rewriting the old step.
Combine existing nodes into ordered references

Connections point to the multi-reference input; numbering indicates order. Combining is not generation. Continue and submit a prompt.

Basic operations

  • Use the provided pan, zoom, and fit controls. Desktop and touch gestures differ; Canvas help lists the current device's operations.
  • Shift-click selects multiple objects on desktop. Delete applies to selection; exit text editing before deleting objects.
  • Drag to organize positions. Check source and target when connecting references. Moving is not regeneration.
  • Click a note's body to edit; use its header to move or rename. Note undo does not cover all canvas operations.
  • Read-only users can browse, select, and zoom, but cannot edit or generate.

Connection, pending changes, and recovery

Submitting generation immediately shows the requested number of nodes. Their appearance does not mean the server has saved them. Synced means changes are saved, not that images have finished generating.

The bottom-right status indicator uses yellow for connecting or pending changes, gray for browser offline or server temporarily unreachable, and red for action required. Hover, focus, or click for details.

Wait on a slow connection rather than clicking Generate again. Recorded operations stay here during interruption and resume syncing after recovery. Replaying the same request does not generate or charge twice.

Resolve balance, permission, or content-conflict errors before retrying. For a generation already accepted by the server, use the retry action offered by that node.

You can move, group, and anchor notes to unsynced nodes; related changes save in dependency order after reconnection. Deleting a generating node does not cancel generation. Restore it from Trash under the normal rules.

Unsynced content exists only in this browser and is lost if you clear site data. Reopening still requires online verification. Uploads and cross-canvas paste do not become offline features.

Copy and paste content, not generation tasks

Copy does not inherit tasks, charges, favorites, or collected status and does not generate. Subsequent generation rechecks current capabilities, access, credits, and storage.

Cards has no Clipboard entry, but shows records for pasted formal nodes in the same canvas. Groups and notes remain canvas organization, not card records.

New nodes do not connect back to the originals. Deleting the source does not delete its copy merely because it was copied. Shared file references still follow material-deletion rules; deleting a node is not deleting a file. The clipboard uses its latest content, so copying an ordinary image replaces previously copied canvas content.

Copied contentScope and effect
GroupOnly an explicitly selected group brings the group and members. Selecting a member or automatically including inputs does not copy an unselected group or add external inputs to the new group.
NoteOnly selected notes are copied. An included target is remapped to its new copy. Without the target, the note becomes unanchored, retaining displayed position and text style.
Within or between your canvasesNodes, connections, groups, and notes are new; images reuse the saved file rather than duplicating originals. New prompt and note text still uses storage.
Someone else's shared canvasCurrent edit permission is required and rechecked on paste. A personal-canvas copy also copies images into your own storage. A repeated source file within a batch is copied once. Read-only, expired, disabled, or no-longer-editable shares cannot be copied.
Ordinary imagesSystem-clipboard images use normal upload, compression confirmation, and capacity checks. Text or web addresses do not automatically download or generate images. Grant clipboard access if the browser refuses it.
  1. Select nodes, groups, or notes in Canvas and choose Copy from Clipboard. Ctrl/Cmd+C works with canvas focus; active text editing or text selection remains ordinary text copying.
  2. Open the destination canvas and choose Paste, or use system paste with canvas focus. New objects avoid existing objects where possible and are selected and brought into view.
  3. Prompt, multi-reference, and image-operation copies include necessary inputs to remain usable, but not every output, sibling, or downstream branch. Explicitly select outputs you want. An image-only copy does not bring its entire history.

Locate and switch views

Locate in Canvas from a card selects and centers that operation's direct inputs, operation, and outputs, not its entire distant ancestry or descendants.

Switching from Canvas to Cards tries to locate the selected object's record. The views share data; switching does not rewrite relationships.

Favorites and asset details can locate their source. This does not restore deleted content or lost access.

Arrange only the current selection

Select at least two objects in Canvas and click Arrange selection in the bottom-right toolbar. Only selected positions change, not prompts, images, connections, or tasks. It consumes no generation credits and has no whole-canvas option.

A selected group moves as a whole, preserving relative positions. Individually selected members retain membership and are arranged within their group; system-group boundaries still fit the content under existing rules. Anchored notes follow their targets; independently selected notes move using their existing anchor rules. Unselected objects stay fixed and are avoided where possible. Insufficient room produces a notice instead of moving other objects to make space.

Edit permission is required in a shared canvas. Objects being edited by others are skipped. If a selected group contains a busy member, the whole group stays fixed. Wait for the other editor, then select and arrange again. Read-only access cannot arrange.

After a successful arrangement, keep Canvas focused to undo positions with Ctrl/Cmd+Z and redo with Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y. There is no dedicated undo button. This does not undo generation, credits, or deletion. Refreshing, switching canvases, or later collaborative conflicts can invalidate this position history. Cards has no arrangement entry but still displays the same formal content.
